We at PROJECT:Comic Con love to support the Indy Comics. Since the 2nd show we’ve wanted to put together a give-away comic book for the fans that featured previews of the local Indy scene.
This year we are finally going to make it happen.
We are asking for you to submit 1 to 3 page examples of your work for us to include in the comic. We’ll cover the printing costs.
It’s going to be a free comic book (1 per paid admission), and all monies made off of advertising in the comic will be used to cover the printing costs and other convention expenses, so there will be no money in it for you. At least not from us.
But you have a chance to get your work into the hands of everyone walking into the show. So it’s a great opportunity for exposure.
If you don’t have a comic book, but have a web comic, short stories, poetry, or just want to display your art then feel free to submit them too.
For right now we are just asking you to submit items for consideration. Obviously space in the book will be limited, so we will review all the submissions and select ones to include in the comic.
We expect a lot of submissions, so some might not be selected.
If your work is selected we will send you (via e-mail), necessary paperwork to fill out and return to us (that you own the work, but we can print and distribute it at the show, etc.).
So the deadline for submissions is March 15th, 2013.
Send your submission to jeff@projectcomiccon.com
Make sure you include 2 pieces of contact information (e-mail and either a phone number or address). We won’t consider your work without it.
We will be using the Standard Comic Page Template from comiXpress to make sure all the submission conform to the same printing guidelines. You can get a graphic of it here: http://www.comixpress.com/templates/CP_ComicPage_JPG.jpg
Some things to remember:
This is to preview your work and hopefully make the fans at the show seek you out. Teasers are good, but make sure it has the information on how they can find you outside of our convention. Squeeze it in the margins if you have to.
LITTLE KIDS MAY READ THIS COMIC!!!!!! Keep your submissions Rated PG please. PG-13 at the worst.
A 1 page preview is easier for us to include then a 3 page preview, but the strength of the work will determine it’s inclusion. You can feel free to submit Half Pages in your examples (1½ pages, etc.).
You can submit color samples, but there is a chance the interior will be in B&W, so we may ask you to submit them again in a greyscale.
We want to show off what the creators who will be at the convention have to offer (so fans can come and talk to you at the show). So when we are determining which submissions to include, those creators who will be attending the show (or have attended past shows) will get a “smidge” more consideration then others.
If you have any questions please send them to the same e-mail address jeff@projectcomiccon.com
Thanks so much if you actually sat and read all of that.
