CGC will be back again this year.

Happy to announce that CGC will be back again this year.

They will be returning in much the same capacity as our last convention. Which means that they will be accepting submissions, but no onsite grading.

But maybe if St. Louis shows ‘em enough love they’ll do onsite grading in the future.

I think it’s time to get my Peter Porker: The Spectacular Spider-ham #1 graded.

We have a lot going on at this year’s show, more than at past cons.

We have a Professional/Amateur Sketch Jam, A Costume Contest, and a live Game Show.

None of us here at PROJECT:Comic Con are models, able to properly judge cos-players, or come remotely close to being Bob Barker.

So we reached deep into the heart of Texas and plucked out a young lady known as Taffeta Darling.

For years Taffeta has been a professional pinup model, cos-player, and she’s logged countless hours watching the Price is Right on TV.

We’ve asked her to come up to the show and model for our artists, be one of the Judges in the costume contest, and host the Death By Pictionary game.

When she’s not busy helping us out, she’ll be selling prints of herself, posing for photos with fans, and telling you about the podcast she participates in.

So make sure you stop by and say “Hi.”

Here are some photos and her bio from her website:

The Taffeta Darling has been an original persona in the Dallas community since 2008. Starting off as a pinup model, she now works on her dream to travel as a gypsy costumer and reference model. She feels incredibly lucky to work various conventions while sharing booths in support of her favorite artists. She was nominated and won Sam Johnson’s coveted Fan Babe of the Year for 2010, and was a top three finalist in the “Hot Rods and Heels” Texas Pin-Up Model of the Year for 2011.

Willing to travel cities near and far in hopes of finding her next adventure, Taffeta has worked with SFX artists from Troublemaker Studios, Spacegun Studios as well as the Dallas and Austin Dr. Sketchy’s live drawing groups, bringing animated characters to the 3D world. Tafefta has also worked for Attack of the Show on the G4 Network, covering the Dallas Burlesque Festival and the Star Wars Fan Days.

Leaving no medium unchecked, Taffeta is a regular contributer on the Loud Idiots Radio Show. Her segement titled “Just Sayin w/Taffeta Darling” brings a nonprofessional, casual setting to the relm of radio in which she reviews video games, comics and other pop culture media. You can check out her “Just Sayin” segment and random reviews on the Loud Idiots podcast at http://www.loudidiots.com/

Taffeta is also a free lance writer and opinion giver. She has posted for Ain’t it Cool News, Alien Bee and has recently started working with Aggressive Comix. She has been asked to star in her own comic titled “DONOR” as “Gadget Girl” due out in 2013, which is being produced by Jeff Hughes and The Comic Book Divas.

When not attending conventions or hitting up the xBox, Taffeta does costumed appearances at her favorite comic shop, Keith’s Comics.

Aren’t we cool?

We are limiting these to one packet per hotel room. A second packet of prints can be purchased for only $10.00 (while supplies last). The Nerdologues at PROJECT:Comic Con

Chicago Based Comedy troupe The Nerdologues will be bringing their special brand of nerd-based comedy to PROJECT:Comic Con!

The Nerdologues is a sketch comedy show written and performed by a group of comedians from the iO and The Second City training programs who revel in all things nerdy.

Through the use of sketch and solo material, the show weaves an entertaining experience that cannot be seen anywhere else.  The focus of their show is centered around true stories from the Nerds’ lives. The show also features comedic sketches that focus on what it is like living as a nerd. Namely, a lot of comic book and gaming humor.

The show was created by Nerds for Nerds.  The Nerdologues combine true tales of geekery with nerd themed sketch comedy. They like to ask the important questions, like: “Why don’t the doors on the Death Star fail open?”

Called “inspired” by the Chicago Tribune, they also called us “self aware, self-deprecating” and said the show “earns its title.” Well, yeah. The Nerdologues have performed at San Fran Sketchfest, Chicago Sketchfest, Milwaukee Comedy Festival, Second City’s Donny’s Skybox, iO Chicago, and the New York City Comic Con.

Find them online at www.nerdologues.com.  Tweet @nerdologues

Visit the event page for more information and video samples of their comedy.

Two New Publishers to attend PROJECT:Comic Con

Sadly friends IDW and editor Chris Ryall contacted us and said that with much regret they will not be able to attend this year’s show. They hope that they can make it out to a future show.

But all is not lost.

We’ve always been proud of our stance to bring publishers and editors to our convention to give the artists living locally some valuable exposure to the people in the industry making the decisions. We insist on them sending editors or to be willing to accept submissions at the show.

So over the last couple of weeks and managed to get not one, but two publishers to come out to our show this year!

Zenescope Publishing will be coming out and setting up a booth.

Zenescope is known for some really great comics like the Grimm Fairy Tales line of books, The Waking, Jurassic Strike Force 5, and Salem’s Daughter.

Zenescope will be sending someone out to review portfolios at the show. Soon as we know who will be attending we will post it here. In the meantime artists…get your portfolios ready!

Avatar Press was a part of our last convention and we are happy to announce that they will be coming back out to this year’s show!

Avatar Press works with some of the top writers in comics today like Alan Moore, Warren Ellis, and Garth Enis.

They publish some of our favorite titles like Neonomicon, Freak Angels, Crossed, and Night of the Living Dead.

At the time of this announcement, Avatar Press said that currently they can’t commit an editor to attend, but they will gladly accept submissions at the show to take back to their offices for review. Should an editor be coming to the show, we will make an announcement here.
